Announcement of upcoming media/speaking events

Dear Reader,

First, thank you for the many wonderful comments on yesterday’s E-Letter, “A Jar of Buttons.” Apparently a lot of moms collected buttons, and so do we! Thanks for sharing the joy of that journey.

Second, I am so excited about an upcoming interview that I wanted to tell you about it. Many of you have asked me to let you know when I’m speaking about Dear Mom: Remembering, Celebrating, Healing. I am going to be featured on South Dakota Public Radio’s Food for Thought, live, noon – 1 p.m. CST, Friday, March 16. (11 a.m. MST). Food for Thought is a bi-monthly radio call-in show that focuses on all aspects of the literary arts. The show will be archived at www.sdpb.org (follow the “radio,” “archives” links and then type in Food for Thought.)

This is a big deal for me because the show, airing live at Barnes and Noble, will kick off a South Dakota Humanities Council program called The Big Read Program. Thea Miller Ryan, local coordinator for The Big Read, will be interviewed by host Francis Linn. The kick-off for The Big Read will attract a lot of listeners. I hope you’re one of them!

The call letters for the station move as you go across the state are:

Rapid City KBHE-FM 89.3.
Northwest KPSD-FM 97.1,
Central KQSD 91.9 (or KTSD 91.1)
Sioux Falls KUSD-FM 89.7.
Brookings KESD 88.3
Northeast KDSD 90.9

Third, I will also be speaking on the book at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen at 11:45 on March 27 for their Lenten Series. Tickets are $6, must be purchased by March 23, and are available by calling the church at 605-225-9740. The church is located at 1620 Milwaukee Av NE in Aberdeen.
