Be Determined to Inspire Determined

I spoke to an international group of leaders this summer about the perseverance needed to lead their industry.  They love their industry and face great challenges, several of which could make what they love to do a thing of the past.

Leadership is a really important journey.  When you care deeply about your business, your organization, your cause, you need to be able to inspire others to care as well, to be able to go the extra mile, do more than they thought they could do.

Your own determination will inspire theirs.  Your determination to continue to develop as a leader says that even you have something to learn, something that will help you be better and do better.

And when you take that approach, your determination inspires others to step up their efforts to learn and grow, which helps them make their journey great.  When they do that, they'll create better solutions, build better teams and deliver better service.

Now if everyone in your organization came to work with that attitude, what difference would that make?

Have that type of culture already?  Then be sure to appreciate it and do everything you can to sustain it.

Either way, your level of determination is a key indicator of your organization's success.  It's a character trait that makes you well worth following.
